FAQ About

BEAM

Whether you’re a parent, educator, or supporter, we’re here to help you understand what BEAM is all about and how you can be part of it.

  • A:BEAM is not a traditional after-school program. We provide a structured, relationship-driven environment where neurodivergent students can build skills in confidence, regulation, and connection. Tuition is based on how many days your child attends:

    • 1 day/week – $50/month

    • 2 days/week – $100/month

    • 3 days/week – $150/month

    • 4 days/week – $200/month

    • 5 days/week – $250/month

We encourage attendance at least twice a week to help new students build relationships with their peers and staff, help them get familiar with the routines/expectations, and ensure they will be getting direct social emotional instruction (we alternate academic lessons and social/emotional lessons). Pending funding, scholarship opportunities may be available.

  • A: BEAM runs Monday through Friday from 2:30 PM to 5:00/5:15 PM, with adjusted hours on early-release Wednesdays (12:45 PM to 5:00 PM). Our schedule is designed to align with the school day, giving kids time for decompression, connection, and skill-building after class.

  • A: BEAM is designed for elementary age neurodivergent students: children with autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, anxiety, or behavioral needs, and who thrive best in smaller, relationship-centered environments.

We also welcome children who may not have an official diagnosis but would benefit from extra support in regulation, social skills, and learning confidence.

  • A: Sometimes! BEAM occasionally offers summer tutoring and enrichment sessions to help students maintain progress and connection.

Summer programming varies year to year, so please contact us to learn about current offerings.

  • A: No.

Any child who would benefit from extra support in regulation, social skills, and learning confidence have a place at BEAM.

  • A: No, not at all! BEAM welcomes students from all educational backgrounds, including homeschoolers and families outside the Bend-La Pine district. If your child could benefit from a compassionate, trauma-informed learning environment, they’re welcome here.

BEAM is not a Bend-La Pine school district program.

  • A: Currently, transportation is the responsibility of parents or guardians. Unfortunately, district transportation is not yet available.

  • A: BEAM is built for neurodivergent learners. We are not a traditional after school program and provide a highly structured environment to help kids that need extra support build skills.

Our trauma-informed approach prioritizes relationships, emotional regulation, and individualized learning support, helping kids feel safe, confident, and ready to grow.

  • A: There are several ways to help! You can become a recurring donor, sponsor a student scholarship, or support our future school project. Every contribution directly impacts children and families in our community. Head to our Support page to find out more!

  • A: BEAM is based in Bend, Oregon, and currently operating in Bear Creek Elementary. As we grow, we’re working toward securing our own campus, designed intentionally for neurodivergent learners and inclusive education.

  • A: “Neurodivergent” simply means that a person’s brain processes, learns, or experiences the world differently and that difference is something to be understood and celebrated, not fixed. At BEAM, this includes children with autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, anxiety, or other unique learning and regulation needs.

We believe every child, no matter how they learn or communicate, deserves a space where they feel safe, capable, and valued for exactly who they are.

  • A: Not at this time. BEAM currently operates out of a shared local school space, and we protect that time and environment exclusively for our students.

Our long-term goal is to establish our own dedicated campus, complete with sensory-safe classrooms and inclusive play spaces, where tours will absolutely be available.
